Delete Your Account

We're sorry to see you go. You can delete your UANI account at any time.

Warning: Account deletion is permanent. All your data, including your profile, photos, matches, and messages, will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

What Gets Deleted

When you delete your account, we permanently remove:

  • Your profile information and photos
  • All your matches and conversations
  • Your check-in history and location data
  • Payment history (except what's legally required for tax purposes)
  • Any other personal data associated with your account

This process typically completes within 30 days. Some data may be retained in backups for up to 90 days before permanent deletion.

Before You Delete

Consider these alternatives:

  • Take a Break: You can log out and return anytime without deleting your account
  • Hide Your Profile: Make your profile invisible to others while keeping your account
  • Download Your Data: Request a copy of your data before deleting (see below)

How to Delete Your Account

Method 1: In the App

  1. Open the UANI app
  2. Go to your Profile
  3. Tap Settings (gear icon)
  4. Scroll down to "Account"
  5. Tap "Delete Account"
  6. Read the warning and confirm deletion
  7. Enter your password to confirm
  8. Tap "Delete My Account" to finalize

Method 2: Contact Support

If you can't access the app or need assistance:

  1. Email us at support@uani.app
  2. Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
  3. Include the email address associated with your account
  4. For verification, include your account username
  5. We'll confirm your identity and process the deletion within 3-5 business days

Download Your Data

Before deleting your account, you can request a copy of your data:

  1. Go to Settings in the app
  2. Tap "Privacy & Data"
  3. Select "Download My Data"
  4. We'll email you a download link within 48 hours
  5. The link will be valid for 7 days

Alternatively, email privacy@uani.app to request your data.

After Deletion

Once your account is deleted:

  • You will no longer be able to log in
  • Your profile will disappear from other users' match lists and conversations
  • You will not receive any further communications from UANI
  • Your username and email will become available for reuse after 90 days

If you change your mind, you can create a new account, but you'll start from scratch—none of your previous data will be restored.

Legal Retention

In limited circumstances, we may retain certain data even after account deletion:

  • Information required for legal compliance (e.g., tax records, fraud prevention)
  • Data preserved in response to legal requests or investigations
  • Anonymized or aggregated data that cannot identify you
